Entréparken inaugurated in Värtahamnen

In the autumn of 2024, a new temporary park in Stockholm Royal Seaport's port district was inaugurated by Anders Österberg, Chairman of the Development Committee. The Artist Josefina Anjou, whose artwork "Flyttar in & Hamnar i" ("Moving In & Landing In") adorns the park's containers, was also present.

Entréparken welcomes those who work in and visit the port district whilst creating an entrance to the area. The park is intended to be a meeting place for events and activities.

"The transformation of Värtahamnen into a port district represents a significant change in the area that opens up, brings new life and a new character. As we build and develop new areas in the city over an extended period, whilst tenants are moving in, we need to make efforts to create a pleasant and safe environment for those who work, live and move about in the area. Last year, we inaugurated a pink pedestrian and cycle bridge, and now we have created this space that contributes greenery, seating areas, art and colour," says Anders Österberg, Chairman of the Development Committee.

Like the adjacent pedestrian and cycle bridge, many of the furnishings in Entréparken are reused. The benches, containers and larger seating areas have previously been used elsewhere in the area. The trees planted on site will later be relocated to the permanent park in Värtahamnen.

"Flyttar in & Hamnar i"

The artwork "Flyttar in & Hamnar i" by Josefina Anjou is displayed on three of Entréparken's containers. The work is inspired by objects connected to the port's history and present. The base material, cut from aluminium, depicts boxes that gain depth through illustrative painting. They are adorned with enamelled metal plates illustrating Värtahamnen's diverse history: the coal, modern goods, royal visits and cruise ships. Everyday objects that might accompany a move to a new district can also be observed.

The park is a collaboration between several of the City of Stockholm's administrations.
